Edonishiki Tsuya Incense

Edonishiki Tsuya incense is handcrafted from Japanese incense is handcrafted from Japanese Binchō-tan charcoal, which creates less smoke than usual when it’s burned, typical of Japanese incense. The unique fragrance has notes of vanilla and cloves.

Developed by Nippon Kodo (a company founded over 4 centuries ago) to represent some of the fragrances typically associated with the Japanese Edo period, from 1603 CE to 1868 CE. It was founded by Tokugawa Ieyasu, so it was often referred to as the Tokugawa period too, and it was a time famous for its Samurai warriors.

The incense comes in a specially designed box with a grey and white Edo Kumon design. This is a traditional repetitive pattern that was popular with the Samurai, who claimed it represented the qualities of self-confidence and strength.
